Chair Time

CHAIR TIME

It's not complicated.

Find a place:

Claim a comfortable chair with a good reading light for your devotional space. Make sure that any study tools you are using - Bible, pen, journal, devotional book and/or reading plan are close by.

Find a time:

There is no “right” or “wrong” time of day to do your Chair Time. Pick a time that works best for you and write it down in your calendar. If you view your time spent alone with God as an appointment, you’ll be less likely to forget or skip it. Decide how long you plan to spend doing your Chair Time each day. 15 minutes is a great place to start, but you may desire to increase to 30 minutes or an hour later on. Consistency is key, so start with a manageable time frame.

Get ready:

Decide if you want to start a Bible reading plan or daily devotional. Check out the resources listed on the other side of this guide. A successful devotional time can be as simple as reading a Psalm on your Bible app and praying. You can also spend time journaling, doing an in-depth study or worshipping as part of your daily routine.
